★Travel Taitung★ 說GO就GO台東_The Magic Hour

The ever-changing beauty of the skies in Taitung are always incredibly breathtaking and full of surprises!! It wasn't until later on did I learn the term of that spectacular period of time, when the sun is setting on other side, the Magic Hour! (aka the Golden Hour!)

It all starts with the sky doing THIS!

And then THIS!

And then it just all transforms!!! You've GOT to be there!!

The first day we saw this, we could have gotten ourselves into a car accident, because we just couldn't stop ourselves stealing glances at the sky above and over the horizon! We must have stopped like a million times to take in as much of the beauty as possible. And whenever we thought we've had enough of it and took off again, we would realize that it looks different again, and even more mesmerizing! So, we'd stop again. and again. and again!

Stopping dangerously on a bridge to admire the fading sun light

It wasn't until the second day that we realized that this Magic Hour can only be met by chance! After having thoroughly thought it through, we decided upon the best spot to view the Magic Hour again at 加路蘭遊憩區. From there we could view the stretching ocean entirely, and with the mountains on our left, forming a bay which is also a delight to look at.

However, we've "concluded" that it's probably because of the heavy clouds covering up the sun on the other side that has blocked off whatever the sun does to produce the cotton baby blues and pinks we were looking forward to! After patiently waiting to a point we almost gave up, the Magic Hour did reveal itself, almost just as overwhelming as the day before, but it could have been better!

As we're patiently waiting

Incredible strokes of different colors that keeps us asking "HOW?????"
If only I had a better camera! It's a million times more beautiful than this!

The most amazing thing, however, is the bright golden yolk of a MOON that night! And the whole night sky splashed with stars! Janny even spotted a shooting star! It was awesome!

Another thing we concluded was that you can still view both the stars and moon at the same time, only if the moon hasn't shown itself just too much yet, so that its light prevails that of the stars :P

On the last day, while we were on the train heading back to Taipei, we were lucky enough to spot just a tiny bit of that wee hour as were passing through Hualien!

Is it because of the air pollution or glare caused by glass windows in the city that we don't notice as much of this phenomenon? We should be able to experience this kind of twilight everyday, let's also not take this for granted :D
